  1. A great real estate agent should be able to give you an estimate on how long it will take for you to sell your home. This information should be based on what other sales have occurred in your area as well as what the agent has been able to achieve in the past.
  2. The agent should be able to give you a property appraisal or an idea idea of what your home is worth. Make sure that amount is justified by other sales that have occurred in your area of similar homes. The agent will also help you to price your home to sell.
  3. The agent should provide you with tips on how to maximize the value of your home. Styling tips, such as letting you that the feature wall that you did 15 years ago might not be appealing to current buyers today.
  4. The agent should sit down and take the time to explain what is involved in the real estate selling process so there are no surprises along the way. The agent should answer your questions about selling in a clear manner.
  5. The agent should love real estate marketing and know what innovation and technology when selling will work to maximize your exposure to the market, and also know the benefits of using a video to market your property for sale. This is the only way you are going to get the right buyers to your home which can help maximize your price.
  6. An agent needs to be able to clearly articulate the costs associated with selling. Some of these costs will include the agent’s commission including GST, likely marketing costs, solicitors or conveyancing fees and removalists. However, you also don’t want to go the other way and price your property too low. This could be cheating you out of thousands of dollars and affecting the quality of your next home purchase.
